Ten found guilty of online harassment against Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has found guilty ten people for engaging in the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the wife of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced accusations of disseminating untruths regarding her gender and sexual orientation, in addition to making defamatory statements about the couple's age disparity of 24 years.
The court delivered suspended jail terms of up to eight months to the perpetrators. The complete verdict has not yet been published.
A circulating unfounded claim claiming that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has been in circulation since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons initiating a libel case in the US against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted analogous false narratives about the Brigitte Macron's biological sex.
Their lawsuit states that Owens ignored any factual proof contradicting her allegations choosing instead to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has regularly repeated these allegations on her show and online platforms, and in March 2024 declared that she would risk all her credibility on her belief that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her now-husband when she taught at his lycée.
The couple married in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was 54.
