European Leaders Decry US Move as ‘Coercion’
Officials from Europe such as the French president accused the US administration of “bullying and threats”, following the travel bans were placed on figures who have been central to campaigns to enact legislation governing US-based technology firms.
“For far too long, European activists have led coordinated campaigns to coerce American platforms to suppress US perspectives they oppose,” stated the US secretary of state in a social media post. “This government will no longer tolerate these egregious acts of censorship beyond its borders.”
